In this article, I’ll mention CDN and how CDN is important for your website.

In this time, dynamic websites become more popular, and they are rich with content that increases the initial loading time of your website for the user at the other end of the world. Because of this, you may lose many visitors, and this will also affect SEO.

So, let’s see how CDN helps you with this problem.

What is CDN?

Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a proxy server network that delivers the cached static content (or sometimes dynamic) of your website to the user based on their geographical location.

The main benefit is it makes your website faster by reducing the loading time. This makes your website user friendly and increases the chances of getting more traffic.

How does it work?

Let’s consider that you have ten users, and every user lives in a different location, and the distance of their location from your central web host’s server is also different. Now when your users visit your website, the content is delivered faster to the nearest located user from your web host server as compared to the user who is located at the other end of the world.

How does Content Delivery Network work

This might not seem a big problem with only 10 users, but if you have a massive amount of traffic on your website, then you may have to consider it; otherwise, you’ll lose your audience.

So, to solve this problem, CDN caches your server’s static resources of your web pages and stores them in its servers globally. Now when the user visits your website, it delivers the content to the user through the closest CDN server of the user’s location.

Why is CDN Important?

Now, you have the basic idea about CDN. So let’s see why it is important, what are the advantages it offers:

  • Speed – Your website got faster after using the CDN on your website. It eliminates the slow loading problem.
  • Crash Resistance – If your website receives a massive amount of traffic, then you should use CDN. The CDN distributes the load to many different servers instead of having all the traffic to your main server. This will save your website from getting crashed due to massive traffic.
  • Improved User Experience – No one wants to wait for loading a website, everyone expects quick service. Using a CDN makes your website faster, which enhances the user experience. This will decline your site’s bounce rate, and as a result, you will see an improvement in page views and traffic on your website.
  • SEO Improvement – Google gives more importance to those websites which load fast. If your website is faster, then it ranks higher in Google Search Engines.

If you using WordPress that’s good news for you, as WordPress providing image CDN free of cost.
Another most popular free CDN site is cloudflare.com where you will get CDN with Free SSL.
